4/19 Weekly Legislative Update

All bets are off folks. Our usual sources (Countable.us, Congress.gov, GovTrack.com) haven’t been publishing much new information as Congress navigates life during Covid.

H.R. 6074: Coronavirus Preparedness and Response Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2020
This bill contains emergency appropriations for the departments of State, Health & Human Services, and the Small Business Administration.

H.R. 6201: Families First Coronavirus Response Act
Combining provisions from numerous other bills, this final piece of legislation would, according to Govtrack.com, “guarantee free coronavirus testing, establishes paid leave, enhances unemployment insurance, expands food security initiatives, and increases federal Medicaid funding.”

H.R. 748: Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act
Formerly the Middle Class Health Benefits Tax Repeal Act of 2019 . This is the coronavirus stimulus bill, providing emergency funds to taxpayers, food banks, hospitals, businesses, as well as providing for the delay of federal student loan payments and federally backed mortgages. A huge amount of other legislation is encompassed by this bill.
