TALKING POINTS: Mrvan v Regnitz
Frank Mrvan toplines:
- As a former township trustee, local civic leader, and the son of an Indiana State Senator, values-driven public service is in Frank Mrvan’s blood. As IN-01’s representative, he’s fought for jobs and families, as a strong advocate for labor and local industry.
- As a member of multiple bipartisan caucuses, Frank works across party lines without compromising his values. He puts people over party to support working families, address affordability, and defend healthcare. From constituent listening sessions to fighting corporate greed, Mrvan takes his cues directly from the community.
- Frank knows that the rigged economy and tax code is preventing working Hoosiers from getting ahead, and he knows that directly results from money in politics. He’ll fight to get money out of politics, then unrig our economy and take on corporate greed. He supports overturning Citizens United and banning Congressional stock trading.
- As cost-of-living continues to rise in Indiana, Frank is ready to work with a Democratic majority to take on the corporate greed and political malpractice that has led us to this point.
- He fought to pass the Inflation Reduction Act’s drug-pricing provisions, allowing Medicare to negotiate prescription drug prices directly, a $35 monthly cap on insulin, and a $2,000 cap on Medicare Part D out-of-pocket costs, and is committed to protect Medicare.
- Frank will continue to push federal and energy officials to ensure federal actions like extending aging power plants don’t result in unfair rate spikes passed on to working people.
- He will fight to ensure that that working-class families and manufacturing industries (like local steel mills) don’t not bear the financial burden of expanded energy infrastructure built to accommodate large technology hubs.
Barb Regnitz toplines:
- Barb Regnitz, a multi-millionaire former financial adviser, has used her wealth to fund her county political race, ensuring she prevailed with 14x the budget of her local opponent for county commission. Now she’s the chief funder of her current campaign, attempting to buy her way into office with more than $2 million.
- Regnitz’s ambition is not about serving the working people of Indiana, but about loyally supporting Donald Trump and MAGA positions echoing administration talking points across the board, including on tariffs, immigration, election integrity, and “Making America Healthy Again” without regard to the affordability crisis and corruption hurting Northwest Indiana. That’s why she’s received Trump’s “complete and total endorsement.”
- As a county commissioner, she’s had no ability to give Trump a vote in Congress, but her statements make clear she would be a rubber stamp for him:
- She praised Trump’s economic policies after he signed the One Big Beautiful Bill, which is projected to cost nearly 24,000 people off their health insurance in the district and threaten food assistance for nearly 28,000 of its households, while adding trillions in debt and extending massive tax breaks to multimillionaires like her.
- She has praised Trump’s tariffs and thanked him for lower gas prices, claiming his economic policies “are working for the American people”.
- In her county office, she led opposition to a job-creating solar energy project, costing her county an estimated $35 million in lost tax revenues.
Why We’re Behind Frank Mrvan
- Frank Mrvan brings a combination of bipartisan victories and clear-eyed policy proposals, not Barb Regnitz’s MAGA sycophancy. Frank stands with workers and has proven he will fight for lower drug and utility costs that make life so tough for working people today, and work to reverse damaging policies like the Trump tariffs hurting farmers in Indiana.
- Barb Regnitz is a dangerous duplicate of Trump, from mistaking her wealth for civic virtue to supporting economic policies that hurt working people locally and nationwide but benefit the wealthy. Now is the time to unseat Trump yes-men, not elect new ones.
- Frank Mrvan understands that a rigged economy and dark money in politics go hand-in-hand, and he’ll work to dismantle both problems. He’ll work to overturn Citizens United and advocate for a ban on congressional stock trading in order to have a political system that works for the people.
