Minnesota’s Day of Action 1-23-26
Organizers are calling on all Minnesotans to pause business as usual—no work (except emergency services), no school, no shopping or consumer spending.
Across the country Indivisible National has called upon individual chapters to hold an event or calls to action in solidarity with Minnesota.
There are three actions we are suggesting Indivisibles take:
1st action: Call on Congress to stop the DHS appropriations bill:
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is currently funded through January 30, 2026. We have an opportunity to rein in ICE and ensure they don’t continue to receive funding to carry on with their raids.
We’re calling Congress to tell them to oppose the appropriations bill unless it ends Border Patrol deployments in cities, restricts DHS’s ability to reprogram or transfer funds to ICE, and prevents dragnet arrests and profiling from continuing. Indivisible has provided contact info, background info and scripts:
- Call Your Senator: https://tinyurl.com/y3748zr4
- Call Your Representative : https://tinyurl.com/yc7sh7uv
- Email Your Member of Congress: https://tinyurl.com/3jk6ahwh
2nd Action: Write letters to corporations who cooperate with ICE and thereby put their own customers at risk.
Suggested businesses, scripts and contact information are provided here:
Target Corp
ATTN: Brian Cornell, CEO; 1000 Nicollet Mall; Minneapolis, Minnesota 55403; 612-304-6073
Sample message:
Targets in Minnesota allow ICE to stage in their parking lots and come in their stores. This practice is putting your customers in danger and is a serious security issue. This policy is bad corporate behavior and must end. Shopping needs to be safe, and Targets in Minnesota are not safe. I will not be shopping at any Target until your support of ICE comes to an end and the customers in Minnesota are safe.
Hilton Hotels and Affiliates
Backstory: Everpeak Hospitality independently owned and operated the Hilton franchise that refused to serve ICE agents. Hilton and Everpeak publicly apologized for the refusal and stated that their hotels were “a welcoming place for all,” and has begun removing the franchise after the hotel refused a request from a social media user posing as someone looking for a government discount for DHS employees.
Hilton Worldwide Holdings; ATTN: Christopher Nassetta, CEO; 7930 Jones Branch Dr. Ste. 1100; McLean VA 22102
Sample message: Staying in any Hilton hotel should be a safe experience. If your hotels allow ICE agents to stay there, you are putting all the other customers in danger. I stand with the Hilton affiliate hotel that refused to honor government discounts for DHS employees and will not stay in any ‘by Hilton’ hotel until the company publicly declares that ICE is not welcome in your hotels in Minnesota.
Home Depot
Backstory: On hearing complaints that ICE was arresting people in their stores and parking lots, Home Depot issued a statement, “We aren’t coordinating with ICE. We aren’t involved in ICE activities and we aren’t notified when they are going to happen.” All this is far short of allowing ICE to be in their corporate space.
Letter:
Home Depot; ATTN Edward Decker, CEO; 2455 Paces Ferry Road NW; Atlanta, GA 30339; 770-443-8211
Sample message: Home Depot has said they do not coordinate with ICE; they are not involved and not notified when ICE is coming. This is not the same as not allowing ICE to come in and use your parking lots for their operations and entering your stores to arrest people. Your lack of action is putting your customers in danger and I will not be shopping at any Home Depot until you publicly state that ICE is not allowed in the parking lots and stores in Minnesota
3rd Action: Rally with us on Sat., Jan. 24, 12-1 at the Highway of Flags Veterans Memorial, SE Corner of U.S. 41 and Ridge Road in Highland. This Saturday we rally in solidarity with Minnesotans for ICE Out for Good: Minnesota Day of Action. Learn more & let us know you’re coming: https://www.mobilize.us/indivisiblenwi/event/862582/
