Who is Indivisible NWI ?
We the people of Indivisible NWI stand against an extremist agenda that threatens our American values, our institutions, and our neighbors. We commit ourselves to preserving democracy for all by respectfully, effectively, and vigorously engaging our members of Congress to ensure full representation for the 1st Congressional District of Indiana.
Working Groups are Critical to our Success
Working groups help us identify the issues of greatest importance to our members and to our community writ large.
Our current working groups include: Civic Education (Linda), Volunteering (Marilyn), Voter Registration (Pam), The Welcome Committee (recruitment) (Maren), Events and Partnerships (Kim), Book Club (Nancy) and our Young People’s Initiative (Rafael).
- Civics Education bolsters our knowledge of the government and rights such as voting and community involvement
- Volunteering allows us to make a positive impact on our community by helping those who need assistance
- Welcome Committee is newly formed and helps identify citizens who want to participate in our democracy via our working groups
- Events & Partnerships focuses on how we engage with the community and who we actively seek to engage with from all areas of expertise
- Our Book Club identifies relevant and topical books for our times
- Young People’s Initiative was created to foster engagement from young people who are interested in becoming activists and leaders in their communities
We can use more voices in all of these groups, plus you can help us identify new groups. A collaborative framework fosters new ideas and allows members to work in areas that are of the most importance to them.
You can tailor your involvement to fit your personal situation. Everything you do, no matter how small, helps. Consistency vs. volume builds a foundation for progress and sustainability.
How Can I Get Started?
This is Step 1, you are here and we truly appreciate that! All you have to do is talk to one of the working group leaders before or after the meeting and we can help you get started by filling out a simple survey of your interests. We are interested in your ideas so please share your thoughts with us and we will see how we can work together to keep Northwest Indiana a great place to live.
Consider your interests and where you want to be involved. Below is a survey that may help you decide. Then print this page and fill it out. Bring it to our next meeting.
Sign up for our emails by clicking on ‘Get Involved’ at the top of this page. You will be notified via email–and Facebook–about our upcoming meetings.
