IndivsibleNWI Sept Event: Forum w Congressman Mrvan 9/25/25
Welcome-Thank you for joining us at the IndivisibleNWI September Event!
- Presidents address
Thank you to everyone for being here tonight. Our group, Indivisible Northwest Indiana is one of 20 chapters in Indiana. Indivisible is a nationwide organization with chapters in every single state of the union. We are one of the longest serving Indivisible chapters and we were formed almost 8 years ago. For those of you not familiar, we have membership in Lake, Porter, and LaPorte counties and people who have joined from other counties as well. Once again, our main focus is to work on issues that are important to the communities that we serve, to give truthful, vetted information to those communities, to go anywhere that we are asked to do voter registration, and also to provide civic education. We do voter registration and civic education in a non-partisan manner which enables us to provide that service at quite a few places and for quite a few organizations. We also try to collect at most meetings for organizations that need our help across Northwest Indiana. Today we are collecting for the Haven House NWI.
At this time, I just want to say again that we are continuing to see the rise of authoritarianism, not only in this state, but coming from the Trump administration as well. We as Indivisible Northwest Indiana and Indivisible as a national organization, will continue to speak up, speak out and fight back in any way that we possibly can. This can be through the disseminating of important information, not only to our members, but to the community on social media platforms, events, rallies, and protests. We continue to do calls to action and partner with other organizations across Indiana to do the same. We will continue to make our voices heard and ask our elected officials to take this growing authoritarianism as seriously as we do.
- News you can useOnce again, our working groups are the backbone of our organization. Our groups are: the Voter Registration/Civic education group, our Volunteer group, Our Young People’s initiative, our Events group and the newest, our Progressive Book Club group. Please see any of us to join one of these groups and lend your voice and talents to us moving ahead…
- Upcoming eventsSaturday, Sept. 27: Community Healthnet Breast Cancer Walk at Marquette Park in Gary. This is an event that we participate in every year. We provide voter registration and civic education to the group that comes out, and we also have a group that walks. Please see me after the meeting if you’d like to know more. It starts at 9 AM and goes to noon. Usually, a person who walks can finish the walk within an hour. It’s a great place for a nice walk and for a good cause. You can just show up if you like. Donation is $30 to walk.
