We rally for veterans rights, jobs and benefits that have been attacked by the Trump Administration’s cuts to the Veterans Administration. Cuts to VA staffing, many of those cut are veterans themselves.

First thing Trump did was fire the VA Inspector General, Michael Missal, whose oversight in his 9 years in office as Inspector General had saved the VA $45 billion.
Then Trump’s DOGE attack on the VA began to fire employees on probationary status, either not realizing or caring that many of the probationary employees fired were workers, 25% of them veterans themselves, who had been promoted because of their good work and competence and were considered probationary status in their new jobs.
Trump ordered the attack on the VA done by Elon Musk and DOGE in addition to firing VA workers, hacked into all veterans’ private medical records.
In 2019 the VA delivered 59.9 million internal healthcare appointments.

In 2024, five years later that number has more than doubled to 130 million internal healthcare appointments.

Trump’s goal in firing is to go back to the 2019 staffing level.
Cutting 80,000 jobs to going back to 2019 staffing of 399,000 VA workers will make the VA unable to fulfill its mission of timely, proper service to veterans. chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/https://www.va.gov/health/docs/vha-annual-report-2024.pdf. The next step will be to privatize the VA because it is unable to provide twice as much service with a reduced staff.

We also rally from noon – 1PM every Saturday at the Highway of the Flags Veterans Memorial in Highland, IN against the overall Trump assault on U.S. democracy and the Rule of Law. Please join us to stand up for veterans rights and U.S. democracy. We accept donations of non perishable food that are given to a different local food pantry each week. Bring your friends, signs and passion.
There is a small parking lot behind the memorial on the SE corner of Ridge & 41. If it’s full, park at Wicker Park and rally on the NW corner or Ridge & 41.

In America, we don’t put up with would-be kings. NO KINGS is a national day of action and mass mobilization in response to increasing authoritarian excesses and corruption from Trump and his allies.
On June 14th, we’re showing up everywhere he isn’t—to say no thrones, no crowns, no kings. Check out nokings.org for more information.
A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.
